Skipper Foundation organised the third edition of “Beti Padhao Abhviyan” at the National Library, Kolkata. With the motto – “Educating a girl in the present can prove to be miraculous in the future”, this organisation started this beautiful initiative two years ago and received a praiseworthy response. They sponsored education to about 1336 girls in 24 schools this year, helping them to move towards a brighter future.

The programme began with the lighting of the lamp ceremony by former president of India, Pranab Mukherjee and the guest of honour, mathematician Anand Kumar followed by an opening song “Ori Chiraiya” presented by little Miss Radhya Bansal. Followed by this, the chief guest and other honourable dignitaries present on the stage, were felicitated cordially by the chairman of Skipper Foundation.

The performance by school girls, dressed in the national colours, on patriotic songs conveyed the message that women are the pride of the nation and that we should take every initiative to educate them and ensure their safety.

A CSR film was projected by the Skipper Foundation team titled Dropped Outwas screened, which talked about the fact that 57 per cent of the women population drop out from school, colleges or workspaces just because women education is still not an important issue to many.

The programme came to an end with handing over of the scholarships to 24 girls from 24 schools that would help them create a future that they deserve and singing of the national anthem.
