Arguably Dwijendro Lal Roy, Atul Prasad Sen and Rajanikanta Sen did not get their share of glory owing to their being contemporaries of Rabindnath Tagore. Nupurchhanda Ghosh has been working for a considerable length of time with these three poets.

It may not be an exaggeration to state that proper evaluation of the brilliance of these poets has not been carried out till date. Possibly, their identity are limited to a few songs.

People know Dwijendra Lal a bit for “Dhano Dhanyo” but others are probably not so fortunate. For a brief period, the songs of these poets had become popular due to singers like Manju Gupta and Krishna Chattopadhyay. Few songs like Atulprasad’s ‘Nid Nahi Akhipate’, ‘Aka Mor Ganer Tori’ were appreciated by the discerning connoisseurs of Bengali music. Krishna Chattopadhyay’s protégé, Nupurchhanda Ghosh has been carrying on her mantle at present.

Ghosh has been working for a considerable length of time with these three poets. Already she has published two authoritative biographies of Atulprosad Sen and Dwijendra Lal Roy. Ghosh’s programme is titled ‘Aaji Gao Mahageet ‘ , presented by Dimension 4 on 6 August at 6.00 p.m at Rabindra Sadan. She will present songs of these three poets along wi th 76 of her students.

Recitation will be carried out by the noted film actress, Konkona Sen Sharma. A music CD will also be formally released on the occasion.
