Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma has played true to his tag as one of the best limited overs cricketers in the world at the moment.

The 32-year-old has already scored four hundreds in the ongoing tournament. The right-handed batsman has a total of 544 runs in this tournament and is one of the highest run-getters of the 2019 World Cup.

India’s ongoing World Cup clash against Sri Lanka will also be their last league fixture before they play the semi-final. While India have already qualified for the semis and Sri Lanka knocked out of the tournament, Rohit can aim to break three major World Cup records in this match.

1. Rohit’s four hundreds in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is the joint highest by any batsman in a World Cup tournament. He shares this record with Kumar Sangakkara. If Rohit manages to score a hundred in the Sri Lanka game, he can hold the record for the most number of centuries in a single edition of the World Cup.

2. Rohit is 42 runs away from Sachin Tendulkar’s tally of most runs in Group stages of a single World Cup. Sachin had accumulated 586 runs in the group stage of 2003 World Cup. Shakib broke this record in the ongoing World Cup as he made 606 runs in the group stages of the World Cup.

However, if the hitman gets going, even this is achievable.

3. The third record is the record for the most runs scored in a single World Cup. Sharma is 129 runs away from the man on the top of the list, Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin’s 673 runs in the 2003 World Cup is by far the World Record for the most runs in a tournament.

If Rohit scores one of his big hundreds, which is so characteristic of him, he can break all these records in one inning.
