Andy Murray beat Benoit Paire in straight sets to reach the Wimbledon quarter-finals and the defending champion took to social media to share his delight at the manner of his victory.

The World No.1 uploaded an image of himself on his Instagram profile with the caption: “Pumped to win in straights today… Thanks for all the support, see you Wednesday…”.

The Scot was in trouble in the opening set, trailing 4-2 at one stage but fought back to take the set in a tie-break and the following sets were far more routine, much to the delight of the partisan crowd at Centre Court.

Murray, a two-time Wimbledon champion, will next face American Sam Querrey for a place in the last-four.

The Scot enjoys a far superior head-to-head (7-1) against the big-serving American and after Querrey’s five-set epic against South African Kevin Anderson, will be fancying his chances of making the semis.
