Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has shut the door on all the rumours linking Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic to the Premier League champions by categorically stating that the Sky Blues aren’t interested in signing the Bosnian midfielder.

Ahead of his side’s clash with rivals Liverpool in the international Champions Cup, Guardiola was asked at the pre-match presser about the speculation linking the midfielder, to which the Catalan responded: “We are not interested in Pjanic. He is a top player but we are not interested in him.”

Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Turin has prompted many pundits to declare that the Bianconeri may be offloading some players in the summer to recover some of the cost, with Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Pjanic linked to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

So far, City have made just one major transfer.

They acquired Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez from Leicester City for £60 million last week to bolster their attacking options.

The Sky Blues were favourites to land Napoli midfielder Jorginho, but were beaten to it by Chelsea and Guardiola admitted that his side were still looking for options.

“We still have a few weeks. We are going to decide but at this moment, we are good enough. We have players in each position. In the holding position, we have players who can play there.”

Considering the significant outlay the club have spent over the past few seasons, it won’t be surprising to see no further senior arrivals at the Etihad this summer for Guardiola possess one of the best squads in Europe at the moment.
