After India’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-final exit, the Men in Blue will try and begin their preparations for the World T20 next year in Australia as they feature in a three-match T20I series against West Indies beginning on Saturday in Florida.
As highlighted by skipper Virat Kohli, one of the main goals of T20 series against the West Indies and the One Day International series that follows is to find out players who might be given a long run by the selectors and be a crucial part of the team in the important tournaments ahead.
Although Virat Kohli was earlier reported to be rested for the limited-overs segment of the tour, a full-strength squad was picked with only Jasprit Bumrah missing out while MS Dhoni had made himself unavailable. Hardik Pandya has been rested for the entire duration of the tour.
It will be a few important weeks ahead especially for the likes of Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey who are making a comeback in India’s limited-overs plans after they were not considered for India’s ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 campaign.
With India looking to address their middle-order woes, both the batsmen will have a good opportunity in front of them to cement a place in the senior team.
