Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Premier League newcomers Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford and Marouane Fellaini admitted the entire Red Devils squad was disappointed with the result on Saturday.

Speaking to MUTV after the tie in Manchester, the gangly Belgian didn’t hold back in his assessment of the match as he admitted Jose Mourinho’s men didn’t do enough to secure three points:

New signing Fred got the hosts off to a perfect start in the 18th minute itself, but United failed to build on their early momentum and effectively sat back for most parts of the tie.

The Red Devils enjoyed over 60 per cent possession on the night, but couldn’t make the most of their advantage with forwards Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez failing to click once again.

Wolves had already taken a point off Manchester City this season and they kept persisting for an equaliser, which eventually came in the 53rd minute via Joao Moutinho.

Mourinho brought on the likes of Anthony Martial in a bid to find the equaliser, but it wasn’t forthcoming as their plucky opponents held on for a deserved win.

In fact, it could have been a lot worse for David de Gea made a number of key stops to frustrate Wolves at Old Trafford.

United fans are a worried lot right now, for their beloved Red Devils are already eight points off the pace after just six games played.

After coming second in the league last season, United were expected to challenge for the title this time round, but it appears the Manchester giants will do well to finish in the top-four itself.
