Virat Kohli took to photo-sharing application Instagram and wrote, “A bit late but I’d like to thank @Instagram for this award for the Most Engaged Account on Instagram of 2017 in India. A big thank you to all my fans for all the love and support I’ve always been bestowed upon. It’s because of you guys, I’ve always been motivated to do the right things and achieve whatever I’ve been able to till date. 😊 And ohh yes, 20 Mil strong on Instagram! 💪🙏😇 #20Mil #InstagramAwards”

Virat Kohli, who gave a miss to recently concluded Nidahas Trophy tournament 2018, will be seen in action in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League. Virat will captain the Royal Challengers Bangalore team.

Earlier, Virat Kohli won the first title of the ‘Most Engaged Account’ on Instagram.

Instagram, on March 19, announced their first ever Instagram awards in India. Indian skipper has more than 19 million followers on the photo-sharing application. His account generated the biggest number of engagements when all likes and comments from the content that he shared in 2017 — except ‘Story’ views and video views — were aggregated.

Meanwhile, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone won the title of the ‘Most Followed Account’ and is followed by the global icon of India Priyanka Chopra and Alia Bhatt.

The list, which acknowledges photo-sharing platform Instagram’s most engaging community members, also recognises Emerging Account and 20 Million Milestones.

Deepika said in a statement: “Staying connected with my fans and loved ones is extremely important to me. I value the love, support and connection I share with them and I hope I continue to remain true and authentic.”

Actor Ishaan Khatter, who will be seen in “Dhadak”, has been named as India’s ‘Emerging Account’ for growing his fanbase on Instagram significantly throughout 2017. For Ishaan, Instagram is his most loved social media platform.

“It’s a non-stop source of inspiration from people and personalities all over the world. I find it especially enjoyable because it’s about connecting through pictures and videos. On a more personal note it’s almost like a time machine for your memories and a way to immortalise your favourite moments,” he said.

“It’s lovely connecting with others through this medium and I look forward to being inspired and hopefully inspiring more people in the future, too,” he said.

Alia also got a ‘milestone plaque’ with Shraddha Kapoor in recognition for building a community of 20 million followers.
