Vijender, Chahal, Sehwag…Haryana sports stars congratulate Miss World Manushi Chhillar

Prominent sports stars from Haryana didn’t shy to laud the fellow state girl Manushi Chhillar after she won the Miss World 2017 crown in China, ending India’s 17-year-long drought at the International pageant on Saturday.

Professional boxer, model and actor Vijender Singh congratulated the 20-year-old beauty queen and shared an old picture, in which both the Haryana ‘champs’ are seen posing with the boxer’s WBO middleweight title belt.

“.@ManushiChhillar Thank you for bringing that crown back to India after 17years. Congratulations India awaits to welcome you with colours of love, warmth & pride. #MissWorld2017,” he said on Twitter.

Team India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who hails from Haryana, joined the celebration boasting of the ‘Haryana power’.

“Congratulations @ManushiChhillar on being crowned Miss World 2017. You have made the whole of India proud #MissWorld2017 #haryanapower,” Chahal tweeted.

Former India opener Virender Sehwag, who was born in Jhajjar District and later got settled in Delhi, wrote on Twitter: “Congratulations @ManushiChhillar #MissWorld2017 on becoming Miss World 2017 and making the whole country proud. Haryana girls rocking it on world stage. Haryana Power, India Power.”

Two-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt thanked Chhillar for bringing laurels to India after 17 years.

Geeta Phogat, who won India’s first ever gold medal in wrestling at 2010 Commonwealth Games, joined the thread, saying: “हरियाणा की मानुषी छिल्लर बनी मिस वर्ल्ड 👑👏🏻👏🏻 (Haryana’s Manushi Chhillar crowned Miss World 2017) you making india proud !!congratulation 🇮🇳 #MissWorld2017.”
