The Uttar Pradesh Warriors unveiled their new Women’s Premier League 2024 shirt on Wednesday.
The iconic duo of Alyessa Healy and Deepti Sharma were present at the jersey’s debut ceremony.
The new jersey honours the pioneering spirit of Uttar Pradesh women, drawing inspiration from ladies like Rani Lakshmi Bai, Sucheta Kriplani, Arundhati Bhattacharya, and the Gulabi Gang.
UP Warriorz, owned by Capri Capitals, enjoyed considerable success in the WPL’s inaugural season.Last season, they made the playoffs but lost to Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai Indians by 72 runs, the ANI reported.
“In the competitive cricket arena, Up Warriorz stands for both strength and compassion, striking a balance that these icons have exemplified,” said Jitin Sharma, Director, Capri Sports, during the launch event.
The new UP Warriorz shirt represents Uttar Pradesh’s cultural pride and uncompromising determination.
Season 2 of the much-anticipated WPL is set to begin on February 23. The matches will be held in two locations: Delhi and Bengaluru.
