Former India cricketer Virender Sehwag on Thursday congratulated India’s dwarf athletes who brought home as many as 37 medals from the World Dwarf Games that is also known as ‘Olympics of little people’.
“Wonderful effort by Team India. Standing tall with 37 medals (15 gold) at World Dwarf Games known as ‘Olympics of little people’ held in Toronto,” Sehwag said on Twitter.
The Indian contingent entered the games being an underdog, though surprised everyone with their daring-dos.
India secured a top-10 finish after wining 15 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals from the Olympic event.
Joby Matthew, who represented India in multiple sports such as badminton, shot put, javelin, discus throw, power-lifting, etc., bagged two gold, three silver and a bronze medal to make the nation proud.
Welcoming the little Olympians, Sports Minister Vijay Goel also congratulated the contingent.
