The current Word Number 8 ranked HS Prannoy in men’s category and World Number 8 ranked PV Sindhu in women’s category are all set to lead the Indian squad for the Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships to be played in Dubai from February 14-19.

The Badminton Association of India on Wednesday announced that those players ranked in the top 10 are directly selected in the squad and for the remaining spots selections and trials were conducted.

In a tweet the BWF quoted “Presenting the squad for #BAMTC2023: Players ranked in the top ten received direct entry, while the rest of the squad was chosen through selection trials.”

Notably, the previous edition of Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships in 2021 was called off due to COVID-19 concerns.

“We have picked a very strong team that is capable of beating any top nation on their day. Our men’s team showed during the Thomas Cup last year what happens when they find their rhythm and I am confident that this team can also finish on the podium,” Badminton Association of India secretary Sanjay Mishra was quoted as saying by IANS.
