Indian shuttler PV Sindhu defeated Akane Yamaguchi of Japan to enter the semi-final of the Hong Kong Open Superseries on Friday.
Second seed Sindhu outplayed the fifth seed Japanese shuttler 21-12, 21-19 in a match which lasted 37 minutes.
The Hyderabadi shuttler will now face former World Champion Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the semi-final on Saturday. Ratchanok got the better of Canadian Michelle Li 21-14, 21-16 in 39 minutes in the other quarterfinal.
