Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan believes that the dropped catch of South African batsman David Miller by Shreyas Iyer on Yuzvendra Chahal’s delivery cost India the game.

After the missed catch, Miller was bowled out by Chahal in the same over. However, Miller was later recalled to bat as the replay showed that the spinner had bowled a no-ball.

The Proteas beat the Men-In-Blue by five wickets to narrow their defeat margin to 1-3 in the six-match series.

While talking about India’s defeat, Shikhar Dhawan said at the post-match press conference that, “The main reason was, of course, the dropped catch and then a wicket off no-ball. From there the momentum changed. Otherwise we were in very good position.”

“Of course rain had an impact too. Our spinners couldn’t turn the ball or grip the ball the way they did in the last three matches. It makes a difference when the ball gets wet. That’s the reason,” Dhawan added.

The rain-truncated match was reduced to 28 overs with a revised target of 202 runs for South Africa. With the five wickets win, the Proteas also kept their unbeaten record in Pink jersey alive.
