Croatian Marcelo Brozovic led FC Inter to a 2-1 win over Benevento, while Lazio crushed Sassuolo 6-1 in their respective Italian Serie A football matches on Sunday.
Brozovic nailed goals in the 19th and 22nd minutes, providing all the scoring Inter needed to prevail on the road against Benevento, whose Marco D’Alessandro managed to score, reports Efe news agency.
With this win, Inter jumped into second place temporarily, with 19 points, pending the match between Atalanta and Juventus, while winless Benevento remained in the bottom of the standings.
Lazio crushed Sassuolo 6-1, thanks to goals from Spaniard Luis Alberto, who evened it at 1-1 in the 45th minute, and Italian Marco Parolo, and a pair of goals from Dutchman Stefan de Vrij and Italian Ciro Immobile.
Domenico Berardi had given Sassuolo the lead in the 27th minute on a penalty kick.
With the win, Lazio holds fourth place, with 16 points, while Sassuolo is in 17th place, with four points, one away from the relegation zone.
Chievo Verona won 2-1 over Fiorentina, which has lost four matches in league play.
Fiorentina wasted an early lead it got from Giovanni Simeone in the sixth minute, and Lucas Nahuel Castro scored in the 25th and 46th minutes for Chievo Verona.
