Indian tennis star Sania Mirza suffered an early exit in the French Open after she, along with her Kazakh partner Yaroslava Shvedova, lost 7-6, 1-6, 6-2 to the Aussie-Russian pair of Daria Gavrilova and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the first round of the women’s doubles on Wednesday.

Spectators were on their feet throughout the match that lasted two hours and 23 minutes.

The unseeded pair of Gavrilova- Pavlyuchenkova held their nerve to win the tie-breaker set following a neck-to-neck competition.

Mirza-Yaroslava made a comeback in the second set, clinching it by the thump. However, they couldn’t manage to keep the momentum intact and went down to the Aussie-Russian pair by 6-2.
