Indian tennis sensation Rohan Bopanna, along with his Canadian partner Gabriela Dabrowski, routed Germany’s Anna-Lena Groenefeld and Robert Farah of Colombia 2-6, 6-2, 12-10 to clinch the French Open mixed doubles title on Thursday.
With the win, the 37-year-old from Bangalore claimed his maiden Grand Slam title.
Bopanna became the fourth Indian to win a Grand Slam after Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza.
The seventh-seeded Indo-Canadian pair displayed fighting spirit to turn the table after losing the first set to the unseeded German-Colombian pair at the Philippe-Chatrier Court.
"Bopannnaaaaaaaaa long time coming !!well done you two #grandslamchampion #RolandGarros2017 @rohanbopanna @GabyDabrowski," Sania congratulated the winning pair on Twitter.
