Polish striker Robert Lewandowski is a name that has often been at the top of various shortlists whenever Premier League clubs have been on the hunt for a new striker in recent years.
First, it was Chelsea that wanted him as a replacement for Diego Costa, and even Manchester United wanted to sign the Polish man at various instances.
However, despite being fancied by the Premier League giants, Lewandowski has always steered clear from moving to England ever since he made his name in Germany.
Now, in a new development, the player’s long-time, now former agent, Cesary Kucharski, has revealed that Lewandowski has only ever been interested in making one move.
“He had many offers,” Kucharski was quoted as saying to Polish daily Pilka Nozna. “The thing is, his wife did not want to go to France (to PSG) – and both did not want to go to England.”
“For Robert, only the Spanish sun counted, and only Real Madrid,” Kucharski explained.
The former Borussia Dortmund joined German powerhouse Bayern Munich in 2014. Currently, the 30-year-old is under a contract at the Allianz Arena until 2021.
Robert Lewandowski’s desire to join La Liga giants Real Madrid is understood to have been the reason behind his split from Kucharski and partnering with Pini Zahavi.
When Kucharski was asked why Lewandowski’s dream move never came to fruition under his stewardship, he said, “We could have fought for the transfer. But there was a risk that our actions would not be enough to bring him to Madrid or sign a much better deal with Bayern.”
“In football business, I never wanted to risk my client,” Kucharski said.
So far in the ongoing season, Lewandowski has already scored 22 goals in 24 games for Bayern.
