Parth Jindal, the Delhi Capitals’ co-owner, revealed on Friday that Rishabh Pant will lead the team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2024.

Australian cricketer David Warner captained the team for IPL 2023, replacing injured Pant.

Jindal also confirmed that South African fast bowler Anrich Nortje will return to the DC camp in Vishakhapatnam soon after being out of action for an extended period of time owing to injury.

In an interview with ESPN, the DC co-owner stated that “Rishabh Pant will not keep wickets in the initial part of the IPL 2024, but he will be the pure batter and captain of the DC side.”

“Pant is batting, running, and practicing wicketkeeping, and we expect him to be fully fit,” Jindal concluded.

Regarding  Nortje’s availability, the 33-year-old stated, “He (Nortje) is healthy; I am confident that he will join the camp in Vishakhapatnam. The South African fast-bowler has been bowling at 80 percent intensity so far, but he will bowl at 100 percent next week.”

The 30-year-old played ten games in the IPL 2023 before leaving home for personal reasons. Before the IPL 2024 auctions, DC decided to retain him.

The managing director of JSW Cement has also revealed that English hitter Harry Brook will bat at No. 6 for the DC in the IPL 2024.

Notably, DC will play two of their home games at Vishakhapatnam and three away games, according to the first half of the IPL schedule released on Thursday.
