La Liga giants Real Madrid have started their season with a convincing win as they defeated Celta Vigo 3-1. However, Madrid were without their star player Eden Hazard. In his absence, players like Vinicius Junior, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale started for Madrid while James Rodriguez, Isco and Lucas Vazquez warmed the benches. However, Mariano Diaz was nowhere to be seen.

The 26-year-old player had returned to Madrid in the previous year after a one year stint with Olympique Lyon. He, however, did not perform as well as Madrid would have liked. He scored only three goals in as many as 13 league fixtures in which he appeared for them. As a result, he was slowly drafted out of the team.

Even though Diaz is not sure of leaving the club, Real Madrid have been looking for suitable bidders for them and after being linked with AC Milan for most of the transfer window, chances are high that he may end up featuring in Ligue 1.

According to reports in Spanish Media outlet El Chiringuito TV, Diaz is ‘closer than ever’ to move to Monaco. An official confirmation is expected sometime soon before the transfer window closes on 2 September.
