Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli, who is also the skipper of the Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB), expressed his shock after the IPL franchise removed its display picture and posts from various social media handles on Wednesday.

Taking to his official Twitter handle, Kohli, who is currently with the national team preparing for a Test series, said on Thursday that he was surprised after the franchise’s Instagram handle went blank and display picture from Facebook and Twitter was removed and him, being the captain, was not informed.

“Posts disappear and the captain isn’t informed. @rcbtweets let me know if you need any help,” Kohli tweeted.

According to reports RCB could be renamed into Royal Challengers Bengaluru and that is the reason why they have gone blank on social media. Though nothing is confirmed, the Facebook page of the team still says Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Meanwhile, theirs Instagram handle has gone completely blank with the franchise removing all their posts from the photo-sharing platform.

Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal also gave a shocking reaction to the development. “Arey @rcbtweets, what googly is this? Where did your profile pic and Instagram posts go?” Chahal had tweeted on his way back from New Zealand.

AB de Villiers, who also plays for RCB, also expressed shock at the development which came weeks ahead of the start of the 2020 IPL edition.’

“Folks at @rcbtweets, what’s happened to our social media accounts? ?? I hope it’s just a strategy break. ????” de Villiers wrote.

The Bengaluru-based franchise have recently signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the Muthoot Fincorp Ltd, popularly known as Muthoot Blue in the financial services industry, ahead of the 2020 edition of the IPL.

The partnership for a title sponsorship includes the “jersey front” logo placement, which will be put into the players’ jersey, training kits, in stadium integration at home matches, digital and other highly visible media platforms, a statement had said.
