Pakistan team have come under fire on numerous occasions for shooting themselves in the foot. However, on Thursday, in the ongoing second Test match between Pakistan and Australian in the United Arab Emirates, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq scripted a new self-destruction story.
On the third day, Pakistan batsman Azhar Ali and Shafiq were involved in one of the most bizarre runouts in the history of Test cricket. The incident took place in the 52nd overs during Pakistan’s second innings, when Peter Siddle was bowling and Azhar Ali was at the crease. On the third bowl of the over, Azhar Ali smashed the ball towards the third man. After edging the ball, Ali and Asad were seen chatting in the middle of the pitch without realising that the ball hadn’t reached the boundary.
Australia’s pace bowler Mitchell Starc retrieved the ball and threw it to wicket-keeper Tim Paine, who quickly whipped off the bails. After the incident took place Pakistan coach Mickey Arthur was seen shaking his head in disbelief.

Unbelievable. 😳
Azhar Ali run out whilst chatting with Shafiq in the middle, thinking he’s hit a four. Except he didn’t. Dumb and dumber.
Easily the stupidest piece of cricket I’ve ever seen in 35 years of watching and playing cricket.
Pakistan bloody Zindabad.#PAKvsAUS pic.twitter.com/nhFgRoq2aw

Pakistani batsmen engage in middle-of-the-pitch discussion even though the ball hasn’t reached the boundary
Result: Azhar Ali gets run out.
Thank you Pakistan for the stupidity.pic.twitter.com/EZPIwgj390— Soumyadipta (@Soumyadipta) October 18, 2018

Nothing will EVER beat the transformation of Azhar Ali’s expression change from “chutiya hai kya?” to “Oh fuck no……..” while watching Tim Paine run him out. #PAKvAUS pic.twitter.com/7SMhUvHVu2

Is this the worst run-out in Test cricket history?: What on earth were they thinking? A brain fade of epic proportions from Pakistan’s Azhar Ali results in one of the most incredible run-outs you will ever see. https://t.co/wOnsjJecVX pic.twitter.com/hGkTesIhts

Wtf was Azhar Ali’s run out🙄. I mean totally didn’t know that the ball hasn’t reached the boundary line and started sharing his expert techniques with Asad Shafique😑. Most funny moment in Cricket history for me😂🏏
