The top-ranked Tennis player in the world, Novak Djokovic, defeated French player Lucas Pouille in the quarter-final of the ongoing Cincinnati Masters. Djokovic defeated Pouille 7-6(2), 6-1 in a battle of tennis which lasted for 86 minutes on Friday.

With yet another entry in the semifinals, Djokovic has now made it to the semifinals in five successive tournaments that he has featured in. This will also be his seventh appearance in a semifinal match in this tournament.

A couple of wins would imply that the 32-year-old would be winning his 34th Masters 1000 Trophy, one away from Rafael Nadal’s record of 35.

Djokovic is all set to meet Daniil Medvedev who will try and reach his second Masters 1000 final by beating top seed Djokovic. If he does so, this will be his second Masters 1000 final in a span of two weeks.

As far as their head to head record is concerned, Djokovic leads the tally 3-1. However, it was Medvedev who had won their last encounter at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

The second semifinal will be played between Richard Gasquet of France and David Goffin of Belgium.
