The University of North Bengal has ranked 3rd in Khelo India University Games 2023. The 4th edition of the games was held at Nehru Stadium at Guwahati in Assam from 19-22 February.
Table tennis coach of the University team Dulal Goswami said, “Our TT players beat the Calcutta University team in the quarterfinals. In the group stage North Bengal University beat Panjab University (3-2) and two others including Mumbai University (3-2). In the quarterfinals, our team beat Calcutta University (3-1),” Mr Goswami said.
“But in the semi-finals they were beaten by Chandigarh University (2-3) and secured 3rd position in Khelo India University Games 2023,” he added.
Five players on behalf of the University of North Bengal took part. Jayaraman Bhattacharya, Kaushik Chhetri, Sinchan Sarkar and Samrik Saha, under the captaincy of Soumyadeep Sarkar took part in the games.
