The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday invited applications for the post of Indian women’s cricket team head coach. With BCCI inviting the new candidate for head coach, it is now clear the contract of the current interim coach, Ramesh Powar, will not be extended. Former Indian spinner Ramesh Powar’s contract as women team’s head coach ended on November 30.

“The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) would like to call upon interested candidates to apply for the position of ‘Head Coach – Team India (Senior Women)’,” BCCI wrote on its website.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Thursday, 20 December 2018.

Ramesh Powar was appointed head coach for the Women-in-Blue after former coach Tushar Arothe quit following differences with senior players over training methods.

While BCCI has decided to let Ramesh Powar go following his spat with ODI skipper Mithali Raj, it remains to be seen if T20I skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Mithali bury their differences.
