Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas on Saturday spoke to media at the new Optus Stadium in Perth ahead of their first game on Monday. At the press conference, Cesc Fabregas also said that he is excited about the prospects for the season ahead under Maurizio Sarri’s management.

“It is a new start for me and for the players,” Fabregas told the reporters, adding, “With a new manager we need to prove ourselves and we need to show what we can do and that we deserve to play”.

“I have been playing now for 15 years and when you have a new manager you always try to give your best to make sure he sees your quality and that you want to play. I want to play always and you have to show that every day in training and in every game. For everyone, it is an exciting time and we start from zero and see what we can do,” Cesc Fabregas.

“We want to win things and pre-season preparations are very important so starting on Monday, let’s see if we can get a result, we can get the idea of the coach soon and start strong,” the 31-year-old further added.

“It is a way of football that I believe in, that I really like and I grew up in this system and the quality of football that he wants to bring to the football club. For the type of player like myself it can be an advantage,” the ace Spanish footballer said adding, “I think we just need to train very hard, be united, be a team and then, however, he decides he wants us to play, we need to figure out for ourselves on the pitch and try to win trophies, which is the main thing. Of course, we want to play well, we want to be attractive but we want to win as well and we have an important season in front of us.”
