Putting the speculations regarding MS Dhoni’s retirement to rest, chief selector MSK Prasad on Thursday said that there was no update on the 38-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman.
“No update on MS Dhoni’s retirement, the news is incorrect.” MSK Prasad told media after announcing India’s Test squad for the three-match series against South Africa.
After this, MS Dhoni’s wife Sakshi Singh Dhoni, presumably talking about the wicketkeeper-batsman’s retirement, tweeted: “Its called rumours ! (sic)”

Notably, MS Dhoni’s retirement has been the talk of the town in recent times, especially after India’s exit from World Cup 2019 speculations have been rife that the former India captain may call time on his international career.
Moreover, a tweet from Virat Kohli on early Thursday further hyped the matter as Kohli in his post was seen reminiscing a moment from 2016 T20 World Cup where he batted with Dhoni to take India home.
Kohli tweeted: “A game I can never forget. Special night. This man, made me run like in a fitness test @msdhoni. (sic)”

The statement from Prasad and tweet from Sakshi on late Thursday has put a halt to Dhoni’s retirement rumours, at least for now.
