Arsenal announced on Monday that Egypt international midfielder Mohamed Elneny had signed a long-term contract with the English football club.

Elneny, 25, who joined Arsenal in January 2016, confirmed the extension on his Twitter account without providing an exact time frame, reports Efe.

“Officially, we will be together for a longer time, in order to reach what we started, and to put Arsenal in its deserved spot in Europe and the whole world,” he tweeted.

The English Premier League side also confirmed Elneny’s signing on its official web site.

“We would like to congratulate Mo on his new contract and look forward to his continued contribution in the coming seasons,” the club said.

English media speculated that the Egypt midfielder will stay at Arsenal until June 2022.

Elneny started his career at the Egyptian club El Mokawloon before moving to Switzerland’s Basel in 2013, where he won three Swiss Super League titles.

Since his arrival at Arsenal, Elneny has appeared in 65 matches.
