If reports are to be believed, Premier League giants Manchester United have surprisingly joined the race to sign Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), weeks after his extensively reported transfer interest to Barcelona could not materialise before the transfer deadline.
Diario Gol, a Spanish sports portal, has carried a report which states that Manchester United have not only joined the race to rope in Neymar but the latter is in fact interested in the deal too. This interest from Neymar is because the move to Manchester United would mean higher wages for him.
However, it will not be that easy for United to make the deal work for them. The asking price of the superstar Brazilian is way over 200 million euros which implies that United will have to get their financial resources together before they try and make the bid for Neymar.
However, there is another way of making the deal possible and if they follow this path it could save them a lot of money. Notably, Manchester United jersey sponsor Chevrolet is reportedly playing a massive role in the 27-year-old’s possible move to Old Trafford.
Chevrolet are interested in uniting Paul Pogba and Neymar and if they reach the UEFA Champions League next season, they would, in fact, help them with the funds and pay a massive fraction of the deal an amount estimated at 180 million euros.
If the reports turn out to be true then that would mean Manchester United would have to pay a maximum of 50-80 million euros to complete the signing.
