Inter Milan on Friday confirmed Luciano Spaletti’s appointment as head coach of the Nerazzrurri, according to the club.
“F.C. Internazionale is delighted to announce that Luciano Spalletti has been appointed as head coach of the first team. The new coach, who has signed a two-year contract, will be unveiled at Suning Training Centre in memory of Angelo Moratti next Wednesday. He will take his first training session with the team on Monday 3 July,” the club stated on its website.
The 58-year-old was most recently in charge of AS Roma and his stepping down after the 2016-17 season had all but confirmed a shift to the San Siro.
This was Spaletti’s second-stint at the capital club, having won the Coppa Italia twice and the Supercoppa Italiana once during his first tenure. After resigning in September 2009, Spaletti managed Russian side Zenit, where he won the Russian Premier League twice (2010, 2011-12), Russian Cup (2009-10) and the Russian Super Cup (2011) once.
Spaletti was appointed as Roma manager in January 2016, after his predecessor Rudi Garcia had been sacked for a poor run in the league. The Giallorossi recovered from their slump to finish third in the Serie A and bettered their position this year by finishing as runners-up to eventually champions Juventus.
