Prior to the much anticipated and much-awaited Premier League encounter against Manchester United, Liverpool star Giorginio Wijnaldum has claimed that his team could go on to be the new “Invincibles”.

He stated that the team was capable of remaining undefeated for the entire season like Arsenal who achieved the same in the 2003-04 season.

“It is possible,” the 28-year-old was quoted as saying by Express.

“Nobody knows how it’s going to be. We have had some luck up to now, but we have also put a lot of hard work in,” he added.

However, he was quick to add that Liverpool are not thinking too much about the ‘Invincibles’ achievement and are only focusing on the job in hand.

“We don’t think about the fact that Arsenal did not lose in that season. We just try to give everything in every game,” he said.

“We try to do everything as good as possible, to work as hard as possible. Every game in the Premier League is tough. Look at the results we have had. I can’t remember a game where it was easy.”

“We have won them all so far because we give everything and were totally concentrated. Also, we have had a little bit of luck,” he concluded.

It is worth highlighting that after eight game weeks of the Premier League season so far, Liverpool are sitting quite comfortably at the top of the points tally with 24 points from 8 matches, winning each of their eight games.

On the other hand, Manchester United are having a forgettable season with just nine points from eight games. The Red Devils will have to play out of their skins on Sunday to challenge this Liverpool side.
