Jose Mourinho joins Sky Sports as Premier League commentator

Premier League giants Manchester United’s season opener against Chelsea will also be the first assignment as a Sky Sports commentator for former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho.

Mourinho will now be a part of the Premier League set up in his new football expert cum commentator avatar and will make his maiden appearance in this role when his former club Manchester United meet Chelsea on Sunday.

Notably, Mourinho has not taken up any managerial role after he was sacked by United midway in the last season in December. He already has some experience working in the media as he has given his opinion as a commentator along with Arsene Winger for beIN Sports Network in the last season and also served as a commentator in the FIFA World Cup 2018 on Russian television network RT.

“The Premier League is a special competition for me, one that takes so much hard work to win and you just can’t take your eyes off the matches every week,” Mourinho said in a statement released on Saturday morning.

“Sky Sports is the home of the Premier League and it’s a pleasure for me to join this team and help to understand and explain what happened in each match.

“Football is a huge passion, it means so much to the fans, and I look forward to being part of the Premier League with them until I return to my place on the touchline,” he said.

Mourinho, who has tasted Champions League success with a Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan, had recently stated that he was desperate to get back to his managerial role.
