Indian ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah is once again ruled out from the upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka. Previously, it was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that Bumrah was fit and all set to join the squad ahead of the home series.
On Monday, the BCCI released a statement stating that Jasprit Bumrah, as a precautionary measure, will undergo more time to build bowling resilience. Also, no replacement is being named for Bumrah.
Bumrah, 29, was absent from the India ODI team initially announced on December 27 for the series against Sri Lanka. But later on, January 3, he was included in the team for the three-match series.
Since September 2022, when Bumrah’s back issue recurred after playing 2 home T20Is against Australia, he has been away from international competitive cricket. Eventually, he was ruled out from the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, which was held in Australia.
The first ODI between India and Sri Lanka is all set to take place on 10th January in Guwahati. The next 2 ODI’s will be played on 12th and 15th Jan in Kolkata and Thiruvananthapuram respectively.
