The co-owner of Kings XI Punjab, Preity Zinta, seemed very aggressive during the two-day mega auction event of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The way she was bidding, it seemed as if she wanted every single cricketer from across the globe in her team.

After the poor show in most of the earlier editions of the cash-rich league, the new squad of the KXIP looks promising for the eleventh edition of the tournament.

In the upcoming season, it seems there is no stopping for KXIP. And if the reports are to be believed, the Punjab-based franchise is looking for a ‘name-change’ for the team. The team has also requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the same.

As per ABP reports, a BCCI official had confirmed that Zinta’s co-owned franchise has sought for a name change ahead of IPL.

In the two-day mega-auction, the first player that Punjab bought in its camp was none other than Indian spin wizards R Ashwin for a whopping Rs 7.2 crore.  After snatching R Ashwin from Chennai Super Kings, Preity Zinta bought Indian opener KL Rahul for the whopping amount of Rs 11 crores.

Karun Nair was also one of the big buys bought by KXIP for Rs 5.6 crore. Later, Bollywood actress-turned-businesswoman used the Right to Match (RTM) card to bring David Miller, Marcus Stoinis and Mohit Sharma back into her squad.

Incidentally, the Punjabi-boy Yuvraj Singh had his homecoming, as the team bought him for Rs 2 crore.
