Lack of preparation is being said the primary reason behind why ICC table toppers, India doomed in South Africa. And it seems Mithali raj’s girls do not want to repeat the same mistake committed by Virat Kohli’s boys. The Indian women cricket team has already started preparing for their South Africa tour in next month.

Learning from the mistake made by Indian men squad, the women’s team will reach the rainbow nation early. While talking to media, a key member of the Indian women’s cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur said, “Going early will help us. It is important to acclimatise to South African conditions. We are going to have a camp and then two practice matches before playing South Africa in the ODI series.”

Ahead of their South Africa tour, Mithali Raj’s squad is currently at a weeklong camp at the Wankhede Stadium. The star all-rounder of India Harmanpreet Kaur believes that it will help them.

“Girls have done well in this camp. Since we will be playing ODIs and T20Is, we are preparing separately. We also have some new girls in the team, and for them, it was important to interact with the others and get a sense of belonging,” Kaur said.

Harman is the first from India’s side to play in the women’s Big Bash League and she believes her experience will help her in South Africa.

“Though this time I didn’t get too many chances to play in the BBL, the time I spent there with Sydney Thunder practicing will help me a lot in South Africa.”

India’s South Africa tour is the first International assignment for women-in-blue after Women’s World Cup last year in England.

“We were playing a lot before the World Cup and all of us needed this break. Though it would have been better if we had played one or two matches in this period, this was a break our bodies needed.”

Harman also backed Virat Kohli’s side to bounce back in the ongoing three-match Test series in Africa.

“It’s a learning process for them. They were playing in India for a long time. Suddenly, making a transition to foreign conditions is not easy. I’m sure they will make a comeback.”
