Opting to bat, India posted a competitive 289 for seven against South Africa at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg in the fourth ODI, on Saturday, 10 February.

Shikhar Dhawan scored a quick 109 in his 100th ODI, while skipper Virat Kohli made 75. Dhawan became the first Indian batsman to score a century on his 100th ODI and ninth overall.

The opener added 158 runs for the second wicket with skipper Kohli to lay the foundation of India innings.

Kohli, too, set a landmark by surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin to become the fifth highest run-getter for India in ODIs.

With 9,423 runs, Kohli is behind Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and MS Dhoni in the list.

Dhoni scored 42 off 43 balls and remained not out.

Lungi Ngidi (2/52) and Kagiso Rabada (2/58) picked up two wickets apiece for South Africa.

There was a brief break during the match due to lightning and rains. India lost five wickets and managed to score only 89 runs in 15.4 overs after the rain break.

India: 289 for seven in 50 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 109, Virat Kohli 75; Mahendra Singh Dhoni 42 not out; Lungi Ngidi 2/52, Kagiso Rabada 2/58).
