ICC CWC 2019: Batsmen who have scored most runs through boundaries in a single innings

The group stage of the ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2019 is halfway done. The tournament has witnessed many records being created and broken.

Let us have a look at batsmen who have scored most runs through boundaries in a single innings.

Aaron Finch

In ICC CWC 2019, the most thunderous knock till date has been played by Aaron Finch. The Australian skipper made 153 runs against Sri Lanka, out of which as many as 90 runs were scored in boundaries. Finch played a total of 132 balls in the innings and scored 15 boundaries and five sixes in the process.

Jason Roy at No 2

The second name on this list is that of English batsman Jason Roy. In the World Cup clash against Bangladesh, Roy made a 121-ball 153 runs out of which 86 runs were scored in boundaries alone. In this innings, Roy scored 14 boundaries and five sixes.

Rohit Sharma at the third place

Indian opening batsman Rohit Sharma is placed third in the list. Against Pakistan, Rohit smashed a 113-ball 140 to put India on the front foot. 74 runs of his 140 came out of the fours and sixes he hit. Rohit hit as many as 14 boundaries and also went on to score three sixes.

It is worth noting that Rohit Sharma is featuring for the second time on the list. When he made a century against South Africa in India’s World Cup opener, he had made a total of 122 runs. Out of these, 64 runs came only in boundaries.

Top scorer in the tournament so far

Bangladesh’s top run-scorer Shakib Al Hasan has been in phenomenal form in this World Cup. Not only has he contributed with the ball and while fielding, but he has also been outstanding with the bat scoring a couple of back-to-back hundreds and two half-centuries. Shakib leads the top scorer chart with 384 runs in four matches.
