ICC Under-19 World Cup: BCCI announces prize money for Indian team, coach Rahul Dravid

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced prize money for victorious Indian Under-19 Cricket team.

The BCCI made the announcement on its official Twitter handle: “BCCI announces prize money for victorious India U19 team. Mr Rahul Dravid, Head Coach India U19 – INR 50 lakhs, Members of India U19 team – INR 30 lakhs each, Members of the Support Staff, India U19 – INR 20 lakhs each”

 

Earlier in the day, Rahul Dravid’ pupils shattered Australia dream to lift the World Cup trophy by thrashing them in the WC final by 8 wickets.

Following the mediocre target of 217 runs, the men-in-blue chased it out in 38.5 overs. From Indian camp Indian opener Manjot Kalra scored unbeaten 101 runs and wicket-keeper batsman Harvic Desai added 47 runs.

Earlier in the day, Australia skipper Jason Sangha had won the toss and elected to bat first against India at the Bay Oval on Saturday.

Australia scored 216 runs before getting bowled out.

Batting first, the Australian batsmen failed in finding a firm ground as wickets fell on regular interval. Jonathan Merlo (76 runs) scored his first U19 half century and kept the fight of his team alive.

Indian bowlers capitalized the situation very well as Kamlesh Nagarkoti (2/42), Shiva Singh (2/36), Ishan Porel (2/30) and Anukul Roy (2/32) bagged two wickets each.
