Opening batsman Fakhar Zaman on Friday became first Pakistan cricketer to score a double century in an One Day International. He made history in the fourth ODI match against Zimbabwe at the Bulawayo stadium in Zimbabwe.

Fakhar Zaman scored an unbeaten 210 runs off 156 balls and in the process surpassed Saeed Anwar’s 21-year-old record for the highest Pakistani ODI innings of 194.

Fakhar Zaman rose to fame in international cricket after his match-winning century against arch-rivals India in the final of Champions Trophy 2017, and is the sixth batsman to score a double century in limited overs game.

Other than Fakhar, India’s Rohit Sharma (264, 209, 208*), New Zealand’s Martin Guptill (237*), Virender Sehwag (219*), West Indies’s Chris Gayle (219) and Sachin Tendulkar (200*) are the only men cricketer to reach the landmark of 200 in ODI.

In the fourth ODI between, Pakistan and Zimbabwe, Pak openers Fakhar, and Imam-ul-Haq also broke the world record of highest partnership for the first wicket. The duo added 304 runs for the first wicket surpassing the previous record of 286 runs by Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya and Upul Tharanga against England at Leed’s in 2006.

On Friday, Pakistan also posted their highest score in One-dayers game 399 against Zimbabwe. Pakistan’s previous best was 385.
