Adam Lallana had a Saturday afternoon to forget as the Englishman came on in the 66th minute of Liverpool’s Premier League tie against Selhurst Park, suffered an injury and exited the match, all in a span of five minutes.

The injury-prone Englishman replaced Georginio Wijnaldum as Jurgen Klopp sought to throw the book at the Eagles with the score 1-1 in the second-half but the German was forced into replacing the 29-year-old with Dejan Lovren soon after.

Lallana has struggled with a thigh injury all season and his chances of getting fit in time for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with Manchester City are slim, at best.
While Liverpool haven’t really missed the midfielder this season, what with their ‘Fab Three’ firing on all cylinders, the 29-year-old is seen as an important squad player for the Merseysiders.

The fact that he’s completed 90 minutes just once this season doesn’t bode well for his chances of making Gareth Southgate’s final England squad for the summer’s World Cup in Russia as well.
Luka Milivojevic had fired the hosts into the lead early on with a well-struck penalty but Liverpool responded via Sadio Mane to keep the tie evenly poised when Lallana trudged off the pitch to receive treatment on his injury.
Jurgen Klopp is expected to make a statement on Lallana’s fitness in his post-match presser but it looks like the same complaint flared up again and it could be possible that the English midfielder’s season is over.
