In a recent statement, Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo has articulated his desire to dine with his arch-rival Lionel Messi. CR7 added that the duo have dominated the sport of football for the past decade and a half which is a rare feat in the history of football.
“We shared the stage, me and him for 15 years. I don’t know if it has ever happened in football before, it’s not easy,” Ronaldo was quoted by BT Sport on the sidelines of the UEFA awards night.
Cristiano Ronaldo who is currently part of the Juventus squad left La Liga side Real Madrid in the last summer transfer window to end nearly nine years of rivalry with Lionel Messi who plays for another La Liga heavyweight Barcelona.
“We have a good relationship, we have not had a dinner together yet, but I hope to have in the future,” said Ronaldo who wore a charming smile on his face with Lionel Messi sitting right next to him.
Ronaldo confessed that he missed playing in La Liga and the constant rivalry with Messi.
“Of course I miss playing in Spain, we had that battle over the last 15 years. He pushed me and I pushed him as well, it’s good to be part of football history,” the star forward said.
Although reports had emerged that Ronaldo could hang up his by next year, the 34-year-old hinted otherwise.
“Well, he’s two years younger than me,” Ronaldo said pointing at Messi when quizzed whether they would call it a day more or less around the same point of time.
“But I think I look good for my age. I hope to be here next year and in two years, three years,” CR7 concluded.
