The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) 2019 General Assembly has designated members to the executive board and sports committee of the federation in Kigali, Rwanda.

Notably, Dame Louise Martin was re-elected as the CGF President for a second term which will last another four years. She was elected as the President in 2015 as well as she went on to become the first female to be elected at this post in the history of the entire Commonwealth Games movement.

Others to be elected included as many as three CGF vice presidents. Kereyn Smith from New Zealand, Chris Jenkins from Wales and Bruce Robertson from Canada were given the honours.

All the positions on the sports committee were also elected in the election. As many as 300 delegates from 71 countries attended the general assembly of the event which had begun on Tuesday and concluded on Thursday.

Interestingly, Rwanda is the latest addition to the Commonwealth association. The country joined Commonwealth in 2009 and became only the second country after Mozambique to be a part of the association despite not having ties with UK.
