India’s tour to South Africa went exceptionally well for the visitors as they won eight out of 12 matches in the rainbow nation.
Now that the tour is over, India’s head coach Ravi Shastri had shut down the critics in an interview.
While talking about the pitch fiasco in the Rainbow Nation, Shastri said the Indian team do not make excuses.
“We don’t give excuses; we play on what we are offered. That’s how my boys play. And it’s a ground rule — no complaints, no excuses, it’s the same pitch for both teams,” Ravi Shastri was quoted saying.
Shastri said that though the Indian were victorious in South Africa that does not guarantee winning result in Test tours of Australia and England. Shastri also made it clear that no matter what, we will never complain about pitches in the overseas tour and they should not either when they come to India.
“I wouldn’t say that (wins in SA guarantee success in England and Australia). But we don’t complain about pitches. We go and play and the message is very clear — when you come to my country, never question the pitches because I will say, ‘take a fu****g walk’,” said Shastri.
