It seems Cesc Fabregas is on the verge of making his first appearance of the season after the Chelsea midfielder uploaded a video of himself taking part in a crossbar challenge with a coach at the Cobham training centre.

The veteran midfielder has been out of action since August with a mystery knee injury but has been working hard to make himself available for selection and only last week, returned to individual training.

With the international break ensuing, it looks like the 31-year-old has been left to train on his own and he’s making the most of it:

Good to see the Spaniard keeping his spirits up, for he’s in for a battle to regain his place in the starting XI.

Chelsea seem to not have missed him as they have reeled off four wins in four to sit pretty at the top of the Premier League table along with Watford and Liverpool.

Summer signing Jorginho has been excellent and, along with N’Golo Kante, is among the few undroppable players in the Chelsea squad.

Considering Maurizio Sarri’s affinity to the 4-3-3, it leaves one spot in the midfield open.

Ross Barkley, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic are the players jostling for a starting spot along with Fabregas, with the Croatian midfielder currently holding the edge over the rest of the pack.

Technically Sarri could employ a different formation, but it is highly unlikely that he will stray from the 4-3-3 that has served him so well at Napoli and looks like a hit in West London.

Chelsea resume their Premier League campaign on the weekend when they host newcomers Cardiff City at Stamford Bridge on September 15 (21.30 IST).
