In what promises to be a fiery Premier League encounter, Liverpool renew their rivalry with Manchester United on Saturday with the Reds midfielder Emre Can admitting that nothing less than a win will do for the hosts.
“It’s for Liverpool the city, the fans and for us,” the German midfielder was quoted by the club website.
Liverpool are languishing in seventh place, seven points behind their arch-rivals, who are second in the league table.
Their season started brightly but things soon went awry as they were humbled 5-0 by Manchester City and are yet to recover from the damaging loss.
“It will be a very, very tough game because Manchester United have done very well this season so far. But we know we are strong too and we are really looking forward to the game,” asserted Can.
“We have to be hard in the tackles, we have to try to dominate the game and score the goals when we create chances. We will see what happens,” he added.
Jurgen Klopp’s men haven’t won a single game in their past six while in stark contrast their eternal rivals are on a six-game winning streak.
United visit Anfield as favourites but Liverpool’s dynamic midfielder hopes that the atmosphere at the Kop will give the hosts a much-needed boost
“It’s always special to play at Anfield and now against Manchester United after a few weeks of not playing at Anfield. We are really excited and looking forward to the game and to play at Anfield again,” Can stated hopefully.
