Star Australian all rounder Cameron Green has been ruled out of the ongoing Sydney Test series against South Africa. Notably, he suffered from a fracture on his right index finger. The 23 year old all-rounder took a blow facing a deadly bowl from Anrich Nortje.

He was retired hurt on day two of the second Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Tuesday. Cricket Australia in a statement said that “Cameron Green has a small fracture on his right index finger.”

“He will bat again in this match but will not bowl, followed by a period of recovery leading into the tour of India.”

“You try to not show the pain straightaway,” the allrounder told cricket.com.au. “I marked my guard again and walked a couple of steps, and I was like ‘I reckon my finger is out of place here’.

“I checked on it – it looked a little bit inverted is the only way I can explain it. It already had a big cut in it, then I got the bad news after the scan,” Green was quoted as saying by Cricket Australia.

The Aussie all-rounder earned a whooping 17.25 crores in the IPL 2023 auction as he was bought by Mumbai Indians. He is now the second most expensive player in the history of IPL.

The hosts are currently 386-3 as they now look forward to strengthen their lead on the 3rd day.
