India has been the most successful team at Asia Cup, having won the tournament six times in all. On the other hand, Pakistan had won the prestigious title only twice.
The Indian team is being led by Rohit Sharma this year, while the Pakistani side has Sarfraz Ahmed as its captain.
Ahead of the marquee clash between the arch-rivals India and Pakistan in Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai, here is a list of the records from ODI encounters between India and Pakistan:
1- The record of the highest total between India and Pakistan is held by the Men in Blue. India had scored 356 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the first innings of the 2nd ODI during Pakistan’s tour of India in 2005. India had won the match by 58 runs.
2- India’s batting legend Sachin Tendulkar holds the record for the highest runs scored in these encounters. Tendulkar had amassed 2,526 runs 67 matches at an average of 40.09.
3- Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly holds the record for the best bowling performance for Men-in-Blue against Pakistan. Dada had bowled three maiden overs and picked five wickets and conceded just 16 runs. It was in 18th September 1997, and the match was played at the Toronto in Pakistan. India had won the match by 34 runs.
4- Wicket-keeper batsman MS Dhoni holds the record of highest batting average in India Pakistan ODI matches. Dhoni has scored 1230 runs in 30 innings with 8 not-outs and averages 55.90.
5- Pakistan holds the record for the biggest margin of victory in India-Pakistan ODI encounters. Pakistan had thrashed India by 180 runs in the final of Champions Trophy 2017.
5- Salman Butt and Sachin Tendulkar have scored five tons against India and Pakistan respectively — joint most by any batsman in India-Pakistan ODI matches. While Butt had taken just 21 innings to achieve this feat. Tendulkar took 67 innings for the same number of centuries.
6- Veteran Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi holds the record for highest strike rate in India-Pakistan ODI matches. Afridi has managed a strike rate of 109.09 in 67 ODI clashes. Afridi had also scored two hundreds and four fifties in that period.
7- Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram (67 wickets) holds the record for most wickets in India-Pakistan ODI history.
