As Indian shuttler Ashwini Ponnappa turned 28 on Monday, her doubles partner N Sikki Reddy decided to give her a birthday surprise ahead of the $325,000 Japan Open starting Tuesday.
“Got to my room in Tokyo to the sweetest surprise. Thank you @sikkireddy. I don’t feel like moving them off the bed,” Ponnappa tweeted and shared a picture of her hotel bed that was decorated with balloons.

Among many vibrant balloons, Reddy wrote her wish ‘Happy Birthday Ashwini :)’ on a balloon in the centre.
The women’s doubles pair of Ponnappa and Reddy will face Korean third-seeded duo of Chang Ye Na and Lee So Hee.
Besides this, Reddy will partner Pranaav Jerry Chopra as well in the mixed doubles event, where they will meet fifth-seeded Thai pair of Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai in the opening round.
