Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo has been scoring goals for fun for both his club and country. It is now gradually becoming obvious that the way Ronaldo is scoring goals, it is only a matter of time before he becomes the highest ever scorer in international football circuit. He is not that far behind Ali Daei’s tally of 109 goals for Iran.

Ali Daei has now spoken up on Ronaldo looking set to overtake his tally. He stated that he would welcome it if CR7 breaks his record anytime soon.

“Records are for breaking; I did it when it was my turn, and it will be someone else’s turn to beat my record next. It’s not a big issue,” Daei was quoted as saying by Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).

The former footballer further stated that he would not be upset if someone of the stature of Cristiano Ronaldo breaks the record.

“No, why should I be upset. Ronaldo is a great player with many honors in the world of football. He is on top form right now.”

Although Daei might be leading the list for the most number of goals in international football, for now, Ronaldo is not far behind with as many as 93 goals to his name. Indian captain Sunil Chhetri is number three on the list with as many as 72 goals while the legendary Argentine Lionel Messi follows them on the list with 68 goals.
