Australia’s Mitchell Starc led the bowling attack, claiming three wickets, to leave England reeling at 219/8 in 72.0 overs before dinner on Day 3 of the second Ashes Test in Adelaide on Monday.
Mark Stoneman (18), wicketkeeper-batsman Jonny Bairstow (21) and Chris Woakes (36) were the victims of the left-arm fast bowler.
Joining Starc in the assault, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon took two wickets each. Josh Hazlewood dismissed James Vince (2), who made 83 in the first Ashes Test, to join the party.
Australia declared their innings for 442/8 on Sunday, following which England made a hesitant start and concluded the Day 2 at 29/1.
The visitors continued to falter on Monday and kept losing their batsmen at short intervals. At the lower-order, Craig Overton emerged as a lone warrior and was batting at 36 at the dinner break.
